Fibermate uses psyllium husk which is a form of soluble fiber. That means it dissolves in water and forms a gel-like mass that softens stools, eases bowel movements, and improves regularity without increasing flatulence (gas).
Instruction:
Directions for Use: Mix 5.4 grams (approximately 1 heaping teaspoonful) of psyllium powder with one glass (250 mL) of cold or room temperature water or with other fluids (e.g., juices, milk, sports drink). May be taken orally once to three times a day preferably with meals.

Product Warning:
UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS
Gastrointestinal distention (inability of the intestines to pass its contents due to physical obstruction or muscular inadequacy) and flatulence (temporary gas or bloating) may occur in patients taking psyllium fiber. Rare allergic reactions (e.g., sneezing, chest congestion and wheezing) and appetite suppression have also been reported.
