Description:
•Oral electrolytes rehydration solution for prevention and treatment of mild to moderate dehydration due to diarrhea and vomiting.
Instructions:
•The volume necessary is based on the child’s weight (50-100 mL/kg). It should be offered in small frequent sips every 15 minutes; increasing serving size as tolerated. Total daily intake should be adjusted to meet individual needs; based on thirst and response to therapy. The suggested intakes for maintenance are based on water requirements for ordinary energy expenditure.
Ingredients:
•Each solution contains Sodium 30 meq; Potassium 20 meq; Magnesium 4 meq; Calcium 4 meq; Chloride 30 meq; Lactate 28 meq.
DIARRHOEA TREATMENT
Precautions:
•Does not apply to infants younger than 1 week of age. For children older than 4 years of age; maintenance intakes may exceed 2 litres daily. If there is vomiting or fever; or if diarrhea continues beyond 24 hours; consult the child’s physician.
