Dr. Alexander Cowie, a man of the world, oversaw the very first spirit distillation of Mortlach, achieved through a completely unique and fiendishly complex process, which he used his scientific acumen to craft. For 70 years, Mortlach was the best kept secret in the world of whisky. From 1923 until 1992, this robust and complex single malt whisky was used as the cornerstone of some of the 20th Century's most iconic Scotch whisky blends. Dr. Alexander Cowie was a bold man, who pursued a bold idea, and was rewarded with a whisky that was bolder than most.
